Shelve superseded JAX-native posterior sampler wave - #204

Conversation
The wave (parked.md :: blackjax-smc-gradient-kernel, wsdev#113) is superseded by the 2026-08-17 inference-methods programme (active/inference_programme_ledger.md, autolens_profiling#134), which now owns sampler direction. Stage (a) shipped its findings; stages (b)-(e) were never issued and are not carried forward as scoped. - move active/jax_native_posterior_sampler_wave.md -> complete/archive/shelved/, with a SUPERSEDED header that preserves the full parked context (branch tip, findings doc, RAL job, resume threads) that the deleted parked.md entry carried - drop the parked.md entry - ideas.md: repoint the "warm-started sampler wave on meshes" idea at the shelved shortlist rather than a parked task that no longer exists - draft/maintenance/.../rectangular_experiments_gut_stash.md: the blackjax-smc-gradient-kernel claim it waited on is released, so the blocker is discharged - regenerate dashboard.md (in flight 10 -> 9, parked 4 -> 3) lifecycle.py check: OK Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016X8zrRQuau8VoGwx3i45tf

The MGE multi-start lane investigation (active.md :: mge-lane-death, autolens_profiling#128) is done in substance: the cause was found on 2026-08-15 and every follow-up it owed has since shipped. The remaining confirmation legs (GPU / float64 / multi-seed re-measurement of the 62%) are superseded and not carried forward as scoped. Unlike the two shelvings that preceded it (#204, #205), this one earns a dated completion record rather than complete/archive/shelved/ — the work produced a cause, a refuted hypothesis, a counter-finding and six merged PRs, and five existing records already cite the investigation. - lifecycle.py record mge-lane-death --date 2026-08-18: writes complete/2026/08/mge-lane-death.md (cause, evidence, the masked-ell_comps counter-finding, the survival-integral trap, the shipped downstream PRs, and what is not carried forward), folds in active/mge_lane_death.md, and drops the active.md section - repoint the inference-programme-ledger disjointness note at the record; its research/mge-lane-death branch was never created - regenerate complete/index.md and dashboard.md (in flight 8 -> 7) Tracking issue autolens_profiling#128 is still open and wants closing by hand — that repo is out of this session's scope. lifecycle.py check: OK lifecycle.py index --check: OK Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013xP1c7XRVQJzxoWAoH92GQ Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>

The JAX-native posterior sampler wave (
parked.md :: blackjax-smc-gradient-kernel, autolens_workspace_developer#113) is superseded by the 2026-08-17 human-approved inference-methods programme (active/inference_programme_ledger.md, autolens_profiling#134), which now owns sampler direction. Stage (a) shipped its findings; stages (b) ChEES-HMC, (c) MCLMC+harmonic, (d) flowMC and (e) jaxns were never issued and are not carried forward as scoped. It was showing on
dashboard.mdtwice — once under In flight (the prompt still sat inactive/) and once under Parked.Changes
active/jax_native_posterior_sampler_wave.md→complete/archive/shelved/, the repo's home for deferred/shelved prompts (complete/archive/README.md), whichlifecycle.pycheck/indexdeliberately skip. Shelved rather than deleted so it stays pullable back intodraft/if stages (b)–(e) are ever wanted.SUPERSEDEDheader that preserves everything the deletedparked.mdentry carried — the pushed branchfeature/blackjax-smc-gradient-kernel(tip6867762),searches_minimal/smc_gradient_findings.md, the science-memory key, RAL job 331058, the logZ-vs-Nautilus comparison thread. That detail existed nowhere else and would have been lost with the entry.parked.mdsection.ideas.md: repoint the "warm-started sampler wave on meshes" idea (still live) at the shelved shortlist instead of a parked task that no longer exists.draft/maintenance/autolens_workspace_developer/rectangular_experiments_gut_stash.md: it was explicitly blocked on theblackjax-smc-gradient-kernelclaim releasing. That claim is now definitively gone, so the blocker is marked discharged and the prompt is issuable.dashboard.mdviapyauto-brain intake --apply dashboard: in flight 10 → 9, parked 4 → 3, both rows gone.Left alone deliberately
complete/2026/07/rectangular-mesh-consolidation.mdstill names the claim — it is a dated completion record describing what was true at wrap-up. Records are history; editing them is drift.Verification
